DENTIST, DDS
Dr. Buck
Asks if you floss. Already knows.
He’s a dentist. He’s also a beaver, so he has been thinking about teeth his entire life. 🦷
He asks how often you floss, then waits patiently while you decide what to say. He already knows.
He says “open wide” about forty times a day and still means it every single time.
It is 1:40 and you are running twenty minutes behind, because the 1:00 said they floss every day and the probe politely disagreed. The 1:20 is in the waiting room. The suction is making the noise again. Somebody has asked for the pink fluoride.
These are tees about that. About the floss conversation, the crown that took three appointments, the sim lab you survived and the tooth fairy who works for less than you do.
What these say, and what they never say
The same rule as everything else on this site: the joke is on the job, never on the person in the chair. Nothing about anxious patients, nothing about anyone's teeth but the ones drawn on the shirt. A hygienist, a dentist, an assistant and the front desk can all wear the same tee, and the patient reading it upside down from the chair should smile too.
Which designs the dental office buys
- Floss Boss. Dr. Buck in a small cowboy hat, swinging floss like a lasso. For every hygienist who has heard "I floss every day."
- Professional Tooth Fairy. Dr. Buck with fairy wings, a molar on a wand and a gold coin. Same job, more schooling.
- Crown Me. Dr. Buck in a gold crown with one gold front tooth, on a dark shirt. For restorative, prosth and the lab.
- Rooting for You. Dr. Buck cheering beside a molar on both its roots. For endo, and for the dental student on their first root canal.
- Periodontally Speaking. The opening line of every gum lecture, in a speech bubble with a probe for an underline.
- Dentistry. Varsity letters over a molar, a toothbrush and a dental mirror. The college shirt for dental school.
The full set is in the Open Wide collection. Dr. Buck, the beaver with a DDS, carries most of them.
When these get bought
October is National Dental Hygiene Month, and the office gift budget tends to appear in the last week of September. National Dentist's Day is 6 March. Dental Assistants Recognition Week is in March too. The white coat ceremony, graduation from dental or hygiene school in May, passing boards, a new associate joining the practice. Printing takes 2 to 5 business days, so if it is for a date, order the week before.
Fit and fabric
Comfort Colors 1717: 6.1 oz garment-dyed cotton, unisex, boxy, sizes S to 4XL. It runs generous; size down for a fitted look. Three colourways per design. Measurements are on the sizing page.
Questions dental teams ask
Can I wear this in the office?
Under a lab coat or on a casual Friday, most people do. Your dress code and infection control policy have the final say for anything chairside.
Can our whole practice order together?
Yes. Anything over about a dozen goes through team orders so the sizes and the date are planned.
Is there anything for the front desk?
Most of these work for anyone in the office. The Open Wide collection has them all.
Who is Dr. Buck?
A beaver with a DDS, a pair of loupes and strong opinions about flossing. He is the newest member of the cast.
